If September had a soundtrack, it would be part pep rally, part alarm clock, and part “Where are your shoes?!” Back-to-school season always seems to arrive in a whirlwind – new routines, earlier mornings, and the endless hunt for lunchbox ideas. But once the dust (and school supplies) settles, there’s something nice about getting back into a groove.

This year, the season feels a little different for me personally. My oldest daughter is heading off to university, and while I’m excited for her next chapter, I’d be lying if I said my heart doesn’t ache a little. It’s a big transition for our whole family – packing up her room, figuring out what “essentials” she really needs (apparently twinkle lights are non-negotiable), and learning to let go just enough. It’s a reminder that back-to-school isn’t just for the little ones; every stage brings its own mix of excitement and change.

In this issue, we have a few ideas to help families adjust to the season. Our home organization feature is packed with practical, doable tips to tame the paper piles, streamline mornings, and carve out a little more breathing room in your day. If your kids are starting school for the first time, jumping to a new grade, or, like mine, taking that big leap to post-secondary, our school transition guide has strategies for all ages, because the learning curve isn’t just for the kids. On the health front, we’re tackling two important topics – the resurgence of measles and what you need to know to protect your family, plus a closer look at fertility health, with insights and advice for parents now and those planning for the future.

Here’s to a season of fresh starts, organized backpacks, and maybe – just maybe – five quiet minutes to yourself (though I suspect I’ll be spending mine checking my phone for that “I’m here, Mom” text).
